Our Local Community
What better way to serve than to spread God's love through our local communities. At The Orchard Community Church we put the emphasis on 'Community' and all members of the local area are invited and encouraged to join. Below are just a couple of the local ministries you'll find in our backyard:
Orchard Commons
Food Pantry / Clothes Closet
We often forget that some of our closest neighbors are lacking life’s basic needs – clothing and food. The Orchard Commons' Clothes Closet and Food Pantry ministry has enabled us to serve those in need in Cumberland, York and Oxford counties by providing clothing and food.
Every season Backyard Ministries seeks to create a fun “backyard” experience at the Orchard Community Church where neighbors are welcomed, families are strengthened, friendships are fostered and the love of Christ is clearly communicated.
Our Regional & Global Focus
At the Orchard, we recognize the importance of helping to support ministries that are sharing the message and love of Jesus Christ with people outside of our immediate community and around the world. Through God’s abundant provision we are able to help support the following ministries:
Light for Life Ministries serves individuals and orphans in the poorest communities in Bangladesh for eternal hope. There are currently 11 boys being provided for at their Light for Life Children’s Home.
Lifelines is a network of Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ) that through outdoor adventures provides opportunities for college students to grow in relationship with God and with each other.
Young Life Sebago provides opportunities for high school students to get together for fun activities while sharing Jesus and life together.
Operation Christmas Child
The Orchard Community Church has been packing shoebox gifts for Operation Christmas Child since 2012. This is a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse and is based on the simple idea of filling shoeboxes with toys, school supplies, and personal items. The filled boxes are sent to children in war-torn or poverty-stricken countries and the Gospel message is shared each time shoeboxes are distributed. Many of these children have never received a gift or heard that Jesus loves them. Just imagine the joy and excitement as these gifts are passed into precious, innocent hands!
The Orchard Community Church is one of nearly 5,000 drop-off sites across the United States where local churches, community groups, and individuals can bring their shoebox gifts during national collection week, the third week of November. It is our goal to help collect as many shoeboxes as possible in the Southern Maine area and share the Good News of Jesus Christ with needy children and their families.
